practices it without any hope of fame and money, but
even practices it without any hope of doing it well."

KJ's 8km

Today I joined the Kembla Joggers and ran in their 8km. It was a handicap event and I think at the sign on I was confusing everyone. When I was asked what my 5km time was I simply said I have never run a 5km race. Which I am thinking was taken as I have never run anything that far. Then I tried to explain that I have not really run any race under about 30km from which I was promptly give a handicap of 13:30. I wandered from the rego tent and then suddenly realized that I would have to wait 13 ½ minutes from the first starters before I started the race.

Well everyone had their handicaps and as their time came they would go to the start and take off. Suddenly more and more went and the only people left with me seemed to be young, slim and fast looking. So anyway I ran my heart out and managed to pass a few people at the end so I did not come last. In the run I was wearing long baggy shorts and Tanya reckons I run with a slight limp so she was calling me “limpy long pants” well it was originally “last place limpy long pants” but I corrected her. She also thinks now I have joined a club I must conform and start wearing short shorts.
